The Amarillo Art Institute offers weekly class and workshops for everyone from beginners to advanced students and even professional artists. All our courses are taught by working, professional artists who are also experienced instructors. Unless otherwise noted in the course description, all our classes combine demonstration with hands-on instruction.
If you are an absolute beginner, we make getting started easy for you. We have beginner courses in clay, drawing, oil painting, and pastel.
Many students prefer to start with a drawing course to learn the fundamentals of perspective, scale and proportion. Some of our classes meet once a week for 6, 8, or 10 weeks. Others are 1 to 3-day or 5-day “fast-track” workshops, which are ideally suited to out-of-town students.
If you select an all-day workshop, there will be a one-hour lunch break with plenty of nearby restaurants and cafes from which to choose. If you need recommendations on a hotel, please call the institute for suggestions.
