Amarillo Art Institute is now taking sign ups for kids art camp that will be held July 19 – 22. We will have camps for clay, printmaking, and acrylic painting  The kids who have participated in the earlier camps have had a wonderful experience while they have created art work they can be proud of.  You can visit our website at amarilloartinstitute.org under Kids Classes or call the office at 806-354-8802.  If we are out of the office, please leave a message.

June 26th, 9am-4pm, Amarillo Art Institute will hold a Saturday workshop on Paper Making.  In this class, Steve Cost will teach us the art of making unique paper that can be used for all types of art work, journaling,  letter writing, mask making, note cards, painting, collage,  etc.   Steve will show how to add items to the paper to make the finished product a one-of-a-kind work of art.  Each participant will leave with their own finished product.  This workshop is for all ages.  $75 for non-members, $65 for AAI members.  Supplies included.

Monday, June 14 begins our Summer Camp Program at Amarillo Art Institute.  We will have classes in painting and collage for children 6-9, painting and sculpting for ages 10 and up and clay for kids 6 and up.  This session is for 4 days.  The next session begins on June 28th and will also include a class in printmaking plus the painting classes.  We also have a photography class coming up during our 3rd camp which is from July 12 – July 15th.  You can check out “Kids Classes” on our website.  Or call our office at 806-354-8802 to enroll.

Portrait and landscape artist, Mike Mahon will be at Amarillo Art Institute this week beginning on Wednesday, June 9th when he will be giving a demo from 6:30pm to 9pm.   The demo is free to the public and refreshments will be served so come join us.  This workshop is on portraits and Mike will be using live models.  Mike specializes in oil and pastel but any medium that you are experienced in will be fine for this workshop.   And if you are interested in taking the workshop, you can call us at 806-354-8802 for the supply list and all other important information.

Amarillo Art Institute now has it’s Kid’s Summer Camp schedule available.  We will be offering painting, collage, print making, photography and clay (includes both hand building and wheel throwing).  The camp times and price varies, so until the complete schedule is online, just call the AAI office at 806-354-8802 and we can either give it to you by phone or email it to you.  If no one answers, be sure to leave a message and someone will return your call ASAP.

German impressionist artist, Guido Frick will be at the Amarillo Art Institute on June 2, 3 & 4 for a three day workshop.  Guido has been referred to as one of the “up & coming” artists of our time.  His brilliant colors and loose impressionistic style are both things that you can learn in his class.  New to painting?  If you can hold a brush, Guido can teach you.  Contact AAI at 806-354-8802 or sign up online.  We have a supply list that we can email you after you register.  But, do so soon, as time is quickly approaching.  $550
