ART-Rageous Summer Camp II

Good Morning AAI Fans! Today marks day two of the ART-Rageous Summer Camp II. We have another 20 eager to learn art lovers in the studio working on painting and sculpting their very own clay pieces. This camp is a Monday through Thursday camp that will get the creative juices flowing and produce a lot of note worthy art. Stay tuned for pictures of their fun time here at AAI :)

2011 Art-Rageous Summer Camps for Kids!

The goal of the Amarillo Art Institute is to provide a fun art escape for the kids. We are offering  Monday– Thursday camps this summer.

ART-RAGEOUS SUMMER CAMPS 2011 will give kids and teens an opportunity to create art in several genres, including drawing, acrylic paint, sand art, clay/pottery, and digital photography.

ART-RAGEOUS CLAY CAMP

For Ages 6-14
Camp 1: JUNE 20-23 1-3 PM
Camp 2: JULY 11-14 10 AM-12PM

Clay and Pottery classes are a great creative activity for kids. They build agility,coordination, strength, control, imagination and sensory development. Students will learn the basic hand building techniques along with intro to tools and wheel throwing. Students are encouraged to push their creativity while exploring functional pottery to sculptural technique.

This camp will offer drawing, acrylic painting,collage, paper mache, and much more. When working with paints, children develop their observational and technical skills while experimenting on canvas and paper. The learned sequences of method and procedure begin with brush and paint care, arrangement of colors on a palette, mixing specific hues, paint application, brush techniques and clean up.Collage making is an art project that almost everyone can succeed at. Collages are pictures made by combining words and images in an unusual arrangement to convey emotion. This is what makes it art. “Art” differs from “drawing” in that it expresses some emotion. It makes the person who sees it feel sad, happy, angry, wistful, lonesome, etc.Students will learn how to design and construct a structure of their choosing with armature and papier mâché. On the last day of camp the student can paint their creation however they choose. By experimenting on their creation children are developing their observational and technical skills. The only limit is your own imagination.

Students learn about digital photography, photo printing and how to create a set-up for photographing, as well as how to use a photo in artwork. Mommy/Daddy & Me Art Class

Come enjoy quality time with your child in a creative way!

A beginning art class learning about the elements of art and using them in fun, creative and colorful ways. Parents can draw, create and experience with their child the wonderful world of art.

Your child will be working in mediums such as:
Basic Drawing
Acrylic Painting
Sand
Etc.
Ages 3-6 years old
5 week session-February 7th-March 7th: $95
Mondays from 2:30-3:30
(Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, etc. -One adult per child)
Price includes all supplies
Tuition must be paid at sign up.

Kids’ Clay Glazing Day

Available to all kids that have attended a clay camp and/or class taught by Nanette Womack.
Each student will have the opportunity to choose from a variety of glazes to finish pieces previously created.
There is a $10.00 glazing fee per child. Parents are encouraged to participate with their child/children.
The Kids’ Clay Glazing Day will be held August 7th, between 10 a.m. and Noon.

SIGN UP NOW FOR KIDS ART CAMP

Amarillo Art Institute is now taking sign ups for kids art camp that will be held July 19 – 22. We will have camps for clay, printmaking, and acrylic painting  The kids who have participated in the earlier camps have had a wonderful experience while they have created art work they can be proud of.  You can visit our website at amarilloartinstitute.org under Kids Classes or call the office at 806-354-8802.  If we are out of the office, please leave a message.

Adult Basic Drawing

The adult basic drawing class combines basic drawing concepts such as pencil line drawing, sketching, shading techniques,value, and composition while using graphite and charcoal. This class is offered for ages 15 and up.

Instructor: Nanette Womack

This class will be a 6-week session Starting on June 22,2010 through July 27, 2010.

Member Price $90.00

Non-Member: $100.00

NOTE: AAI members receive a 10 percent discount on regular classes
