Having a problem painting from photographs?…your paintings looking like you have just copied from your photo…. stiff and lifeless. Have you worked so far on a piece and it looks flat, hard edges, no life at all to your painting? Is the reference material you are working from getting the better of you? There can be a number of reasons why a piece doesn’t work. Would you like to have painted from your reference and make it feel as though it was painted from life, having a “Plein Aire” feeling to it? The main reasons will have something to do with color, composition, materials and technique.
Mr. Nichols will provide one-on-one instruction to each student as well as critiques helping you find out exactly why that piece isn’t working. If you are ready and no longer want your work to look like flat canvas, this is the workshop for you!
Bring a minimum of two pieces and let Mr. Nichols help you not only “Painting the Light” but also learn concepts to engage complicated areas and simplify these obstacles.
