June 21-23, 2018
Cost: AAI Members – $350, Non-members – $400
Mike has a flair for color, and a mastery of drawing and design. He teaches a process rather than a technique, and students consistently rave over the results. This workshop is beginner & intermediate friendly, but because of his unique and thorough presentation of classic painting principles, it will be challenging even for experienced painters.
Mike’s emphasis at this workshop will be to teach his students how to think in “Aesthetic Categories”, which will revolutionize their approach to drawing and painting. Design & Values will receive special focus. Suitable mediums for this workshop are oil, pastel, and opaque acrylic.
Mike has been a professional artist for over 42 years and is a signature member of the following national and state art organizations: Pastel Society of America (PSA), American Plains Artists (APA), Plein Air Painters of New Mexico (PAPNM), and the Pastel Society of New Mexico (PSNM). He has received many awards and honors for his landscape and portrait work around the country and was a featured artist in the book, “100 Ways to Paint People and Figures” published by International Artist Magazine and won Best-of-Show at the 2014 PAPNM Santa Fe Plein Air Festival.
