2011 Art-Rageous Summer Camps for Kids!

The goal of the Amarillo Art Institute is to provide a fun art escape for the kids. We are offering  Monday– Thursday camps this summer.

ART-RAGEOUS SUMMER CAMPS 2011 will give kids and teens an opportunity to create art in several genres, including drawing, acrylic paint, sand art, clay/pottery, and digital photography.

Come flex your creativity muscle this summer by learning and having fun with us!

Price includes all supplies (except digital cameras) and a ART-RAGEOUS Camp T-Shirt!

ART-RAGEOUS CLAY CAMP

For Ages 6-14
Camp 1: JUNE 20-23 1-3 PM
Camp 2: JULY 11-14 10 AM-12PM

Clay and Pottery classes are a great creative activity for kids. They build agility,coordination, strength, control, imagination and sensory development. Students will learn the basic hand building techniques along with intro to tools and wheel throwing. Students are encouraged to push their creativity while exploring functional pottery to sculptural technique.

ART-RAGEOUS BUFFET CAMP

This camp will offer drawing, acrylic painting,collage, paper mache, and much more. When working with paints, children develop their observational and technical skills while experimenting on canvas and paper. The learned sequences of method and procedure begin with brush and paint care, arrangement of colors on a palette, mixing specific hues, paint application, brush techniques and clean up.Collage making is an art project that almost everyone can succeed at. Collages are pictures made by combining words and images in an unusual arrangement to convey emotion. This is what makes it art. “Art” differs from “drawing” in that it expresses some emotion. It makes the person who sees it feel sad, happy, angry, wistful, lonesome, etc.Students will learn how to design and construct a structure of their choosing with armature and papier mâché. On the last day of camp the student can paint their creation however they choose. By experimenting on their creation children are developing their observational and technical skills. The only limit is your own imagination.

ART-RAGEOUS DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY CAMP FOR AGES 11 AND UP

Students learn about digital photography, photo printing and how to create a set-up for photographing, as well as how to use a photo in artwork.
