Happy Monday Amarillo Art Institute Fans!
Today has been a wonderful day in the public relations world for AAI.
Our Director, Morgan Phipps, is the feature writer on the OSU Museum of Art Blog today. Morgan wrote this research article during her last semester at OSU on James Swann, an artist that started out in Amarillo. To read the article, go here—>http://osuma.wordpress.com/
Also, AAI was invited to the Amarillo East Rotary Club to talk about the Institute and everything that we have to offer. This was a very appreciated opportunity to get word out to the community about not only our fall classes and workshops but to also talk about Sunset Art Galleries and First Friday Art Walk. Thank you to Mr. Jeff Getsky for calling and iniviting us.
Now down to business… This weekend is a Volunteer Work Day Weekend. We will be working on painting the Library. The work day is scheduled for Saturday, August 13 at 10 AM. Now remember, we are not asking you to give up your whole day but if you have an hour or so to donate your time to paint some shelves or a wall please come join us. ALL Help is Greatly Appreciated!!!
Lastly, a reminder that session 1 for fall clay classes are starting this week. Clay classes are held from 6:30-9 on Tuesday nights with Alex and Mandy Gregory and Thursday nights with Nannette Womack. Call Today to sign up, 806.354.8802.
Quote of the day:
I’ve been absolutely terrified every moment of my life – and I’ve never let it keep me from doing a single thing I wanted to do. ~Georgia O’Keeffe
Don’t be terrified to get involved, be creative, or do something outside of the box this week!
