We lost a dear friend, great artist and fine mentor with the passing of Maggie Price on Thursday, April 4, 2013.
We are presenting a retrospective exhibit of ‘The Best of Maggie Price’ in the school from November 1 – Jan 5, 2014. We are also going to hang her show at our Beaujolais Nouveau Party. Her work will be for sale. She is very well-known in the art world and this will be a really special opportunity to share her work with our guests and artists here in Amarillo.
Maggie was a member of the Pastel Society of New Mexico for over 20 years. She was a Signature Member of the Pastel Society of America, Pastel Society of New Mexico (Distinguished Pastelist), and Plein Air Painters of New Mexico; a member of the International Association of Pastel Societies Master Circle and the Salmagundi Club of New York City.
She was co-founder and former editor of The Pastel Journal magazine, and the author of three books: Painting with Pastels, Painting Sunlight & Shadow with Pastels, and her most recent book, Creative Freedom, published in March.
Maggie and her husband Bill Canright taught and painted all over the world, but always came home to New Mexico where she was always available with kind words and her special wisdom.
Maggie, we will miss you.
