The Amarillo Art Institute works to bring the arts to the community through our community programs. These programs include teaching at schools in partnership with Window on a Wider World, providing art classes at The PARC, and providing art classes to seniors in various senior care facilities.
AAI offers the Math in Art and Resident Artist program on-site to schools in the Panhandle. For the 2020-2021 school year, AAI will have presented these programs to 1,200 students, many of who attend schools without any art programming in K-12 grades. These programs focus on TEKS objectives in mathematics, social studies, and fine arts and help provide teachers with ideas on connecting core subjects with visual arts.
The PARC (Panhandle Adult Rebuilding Center) works to help homeless individuals in our community through promoting a sense of self-worth and providing life opportunities. AAI provides some of the many art classes offered at The PARC, and is happy to share art experiences with them on a monthly basis.
AAI has provided senior art classes at Park Central, The Cottages, Ussery Roan Veterans Home, and is open to working with other senior care facilities. Classes for seniors help improve self esteem and motor skills, and can be a great activity around the holidays or on a regular schedule.
