Don’t forget that this Friday, April 2nd is First Friday Night Art Walk from 5-9pm. All of Sunset Center will be alive with art, music, food and entertainment. At Amarillo Art Institute we will be hosting several activities. We have two exhibits up — one, is the Kids Spring Break Camp exhibit. Come in and enjoy the art and refreshments and meet some of the young artists. The second exhibit is featuring Walt Davis, former curator of the Panhandle Plains Museum in Canyon. Walt and his wife Isabel wrote the book “Exploring the Edges of Texas” which they researched while Walt painted and sketched his way around the state. On display are many of his paintings and sketches. The Davises will also be signing copies of their wonderful book. Starting at 7pm you can see your favorite artists at work during the “Quick Draw”. The artists will have 1 hour from start to finish to complete their painting. At the end of the hour, they will put their paintings in frames and they will be auctioned off. All proceeds from the auction will go to AAI. AAI is a non-profit art school and all donations are tax deductible. We will also have a table in Amarillo Art Institute on Friday night where you can join our organization. See you Friday Night!
