Lindsey McCown

lindsey-mccown-1Lindsey’s Biography

The ability to create art begins with the ability to see. My View of the world is unique and my artwork is my best interpretation of the world I see around me. I enjoy the delicate details and beauty of nature, appreciate the richness of tradition, investigate the complexity of human behavior, and seek to celebrate the opportunity to communicate with the world through my art. Few people realize the importance of visual language, I however explore it’s influence daily.

Art can change someone’s day, opinion, or attitude. Art can change a life. I grew up as an artist in an agricultural world; from a young age I have possessed a talent and passion for art. In a neighborhood of a small farming community in the high plains of the panhandle of Texas I taught myself to draw. As a small child, I could be seen with sidewalk chalk mixed in bucket of water and a paintbrush decorating the walkways in front of our home.lindsey-mccown-2

Earning the nickname “Fred”, a namesake from my Grandmother Winifred who was an artist and woman with great spunk, is something that I am very proud of. At the end of my perfect day I would be speckled with paint from head to toe, standing back from my finished artwork, brush in hand, and a smile on my face. Nothing seems more natural for me than to be creating artwork, it feels like the very thing I was always meant to do.
