This course is for anyone interested in exploring the challenges and joys of drawing the human face. Just as we as people connect to expressions and non-verbal language on a daily basis in person-to-person interaction, artists have a great opportunity to convey meaning and an instant visual connection to their artwork through portraiture.
We will begin the course with a strong foundation in proportion shading, and light. The class will have the opportunity to use different drawing mediums including graphite pencil charcoal, pastel and colored pencil, development if personal style through realism, emphasis, contrast, or expression will be explored in final drawings to create beautiful original works of art.
Students will be encouraged to keep a buy and keep a sketchbook (5×7 or larger ) to study, practice, and refine your drawings.
