Registration is ongoing for Amarillo Art Institute (AAI) classes beginning in January. Classes for adults include Clay, Introduction to Art, Introduction to Etching, Oil Painting, Pastels, Porcelain Painting and Wood Burned Art. AAI also has Open Studios for Portrait and Life Drawing. Children’s classes include Basic Drawing, Clay and Wood Burned Art.
Classes beginning the week of Jan. 4 include Oil Painting, 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesdays, Len Slesick, and 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursdays, Richela Chapman; Porcelain Painting, 1:30-4 p.m. Thursdays, Cynthia Pinnell; and Wood Burned Art, 1 to 5 p.m. Saturdays, James “Pape” Alexander.
Three Adult Clay classes begin the week of Jan. 11. Sessions are available from 9:30 to noon Tuesdays, Nannette Womack; 6:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays, Alex and Mandy Gregory; and 6:30 to 9 p.m. Thursdays, Womack. Other courses beginning the week of Jan. 11 include Pastels: Light and Color, 1 to 4 p.m. Thursdays, Beth Thomas, PSA; Introduction to Art, 1 to 3:30 p.m. Thursdays, Janette Dickerson; and Introduction to Etching, 1 to 3:30 p.m. Saturdays, Natalie Oltermann.
Open Studios are open to the public for a per-session fee from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. AAI provides a live model and equipment. Participants of all skill levels bring their own supplies to draw, paint or sculpt. Portrait meets Mondays and Life Drawing meets Wednesdays.
Children’s classes beginning the week of Jan. 11 include Clay, 4:30 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays, and Basic Drawing, 4:30 to 6 p.m. Wednesdays, both taught by Womack. The Adult Wood Burned Art class is open to children ages 9 and up. All supplies are provided for children’s classes.
